Hanging With The Best

The Hanging with the Best event is new this year because we wanted to say “thank you” for the work of our military and the service that leaders of our community provide on a regular basis.

Starring Martha Reeves & The Vandellas

In 1962, the unforgettable voice of a young jazz/blues singer was heard in a Detriot Nightclub—the voice that would become known as the “sound of young America.” Martha Reeves watched, learned, and whenever opportunity presented itself, she sang and soon, Martha and the Vandellas was born. With the group came an enviable string of hits: Heat Wave, Nowhere to Run, My Baby Loves Me, Jimmy Mack, and of course, the Motown anthem, Dancing in the Streets. Martha has expanded her musical genres throughout her career, and collaborated with greats such as James Brown and Bruce Springsteen. Martha continues to thrill audiences around the world , with two greatest Hits collections having been released in  the last five years and tours still going strong!  For more information, visit her website at www.missmarthareeves.com

Featuring:

Recording Artist Barry Michael

From the suburbs of Atlanta comes a man who’s main “country” experience as a kid came from the creek in his backyard. But a natural ability to perform and a true knack for songwriting eventually led Barry to sign with Stockbridge Records, who released his debut album, Ripped Blue Jeans and ATVs. Not long after, Barry was approached to write a song for a group of Houston-area WWII veterans in support of their honor flight fundraiser. The song, Heroes and Angels, gained national recognition and opened a lot of doors for the budding singer who then parlayed that success into a full-blown tour performing at national conventions, military bases, government ceremonies, private events and radio and television shows. In August 2010, Barry partnered with Health Net, Inc. to honor and support service members, Veterans and their families. He performed at the Nashville Connection last year and we are thrilled to have him back for another great adventure! To learn more, visit Barry’s website at www.barrymichaelmusic.com.

 Also Featuring:

Artist David Brendan Hunt

David’s love of music all started as a rambuctious kid to a teenage mother who took notice of an old piano in the corner of a church. He was given the piano to play and it was the outlet that calmed him down. At the age of 14, his mother bought him his first guitar and he was hooked. He skipped college to travel the world with his guitar, first with open mic nights and then auditioning at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN. After some downfalls, including ending up homeless, David’s luck changed for the better in Texas and then in VA, where he won a $3000 Gibson guitar signed by Willie Nelson in a talent contest. Since that time, he has shared the stage with bands and artists such as Lloyd Maines, Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland and Billie Jo Shaver. David continues to write, sing, and play in Texas and in Nashville and just finished filming a movie called Candles.  ”I invite the crowd into my world when I perform. I’ve been restless, homeless, fatherless, penniless and jobless. You’ve gotta have some real life experience before you can truly have anything to say. “Come share David’s experience thru his music at the Hanging with the BEST VIP party! You can find him on facebook or listen to him at www.reverbnation.com/davidbrendanhunt.
